Lanzarote

Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands off the coast of West Africa administered by Spain, is known for its year-round warm climate, beaches and volcanic landscape. The rocky landscape of Timanfaya National Park was created by volcanic eruptions in the 1730s. The Cueva de los Verdes has caverns formed by a subway river of lava. Puerto del Carmen, a tourist center on the east coast, has whitewashed villas, beaches and diving centers and is an ideal island for cycling training.
